Hamburg's Fraunhofer Centre for Maritime Logistics and Services (CML) optimises logistical processes and systems in the maritime transport train. With EU support, the CML Hamburg's maritime sector benefits from a state-of-the-art research facility.

From science to maritime transport

We have cycled from dry land to the sea to discover some of the most innovative methods of transport. With the CML we take a dive into maritime logistics. Founded in 2010, this public research unit is world-renowned for developing innovative solutions to optimise logistical processes and systems in the maritime transport chain: from ships to ports and from terminals and beyond. The EU regional funds have enabled the CML to build approximately 2,400 square metres dedicated to research. This new building, expected to be completed by 2021, will welcome 86 employees and multiple technologies unlocking new fields of research.
